Programs still teach business classes but put an emphasis on the technological side of things. This prepares students for the technology dominated world which they will be met with. IE Tech MBA

IE Business School’s Tech MBA was designed to provide a learning journey in the areas of technology, management and transformational leadership, creating professionals who can adapt to the fast and continuous pace of technological evolution.

This one-year program that starts in January and based in Madrid is designed for professionals that want to develop their career in the technology sector or in tech-centric job roles who want to become fluent in the language of business and technology, building a career that leverages their enhanced tech vision and strategic skills to succeed in the business of the future. The program program focuses one hundred percent on business for tech and, from the very beginning, you will be immersed in tech-rich business challenges through experiential learning courses and field projects, however, when the pace of change is such that most students are preparing themselves for jobs that don’t even exist yet, you will need more than solid know-how to stay ahead of the game and lead the way. And that’s where we come in.

To be eligible to apply for the Tech MBA, you must have completed an official bachelor’s degree in either Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)*. In addition, a minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience in any type of industry is required, although a total of 5 years is recommended. A passion for technology is a must.

Dual Engineering / MBA Degrees

In the past few years, many top business schools started to offer dual degrees in business and engineering (such as MBA/MEng). Such programs enable students to earn two master’s degrees in the time it takes to complete just one, and at a lower cost than enrolling in each program separately.

Dual Engineering / MBA Degrees have a balanced emphasis on engineering, design, and business fundamentals—all of which are crucial for success when leading technology ventures. They are designed to prepare students to become leaders in technological innovation in an array of different industries, provide a strong foundation in general management, build design skills, and extend students’ understanding of engineering.

MBA/MEng programs use a blended approach to the teaching of business innovation and the complex technologies that drive it forward, with curriculum to deepen students’ understanding of the interdependent relationship and dialogue that exists between these disciplines.

MIT LGO

MIT Leaders for Global Operations is a unique, interdisciplinary Engineering & MBA dual degree program with internships at elite partner companies.

This MBA/MS degree from the Sloan School of Management and School of Engineering at MIT allows students to become an innovative business leaders with the technical skills to implement complex operations and technology solutions.

During their two years at MIT, LGO students complete a curriculum that combines the requirements for two separate degrees: a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Sloan School of Management and a Master of Science (SM) from the School of Engineering in one of seven disciplines.

Each LGO engineering department has world-class faculty, unique areas of expertise, and exciting research opportunities to guide our students to become the next generation of high-tech leaders.

The Sloan MBA has a one-semester core. LGO students join an MBA core team in their first fall semester and take MBA core classes with their team. Following core, Sloan MBAs have an open curriculum to pursue what is most interesting to them. For LGOs, a portion of the remaining electives are a preset LGO-specific curriculum in operations and leadership. LGOs have about 6-10 courses to take as free Sloan electives toward their MBA degree. Many LGOs fill gaps in their knowledge with courses in finance and branding. Others take a deep-dive into operations management and business analytics. It’s up to you to choose.

Kellogg MBAi

Kellogg MBAi Program, a joint degree between Kellogg and the McCormick School of Engineering, offers a unique, blended approach to the teaching of business innovation and the complex technologies that drive it forward.

Our world-class professors at Kellogg and McCormick have also collaborated to develop a new catalog of courses that is specifically designed for leaders operating at the nexus of business and AI-driven technology. Unlike other programs, MBAi integrates both business strategy and analytic technologies throughout the curriculum to deepen your understanding of the interdependent relationship and dialogue that exists between these disciplines.

MBAi is designed to prepare ambitious and forward-thinking professionals like you with the knowledge and experience to lead high-impact teams. You will drive strategic business innovation while understanding the complex nuances of the technology that enables it. Our unique, blended approach to curriculum will include machine learning, robotics, computational thinking for business, introduction to the frontiers of science and technology, and how data science and artificial intelligence are driving innovation.

This fast-paced program lasts five quarters from start to graduation and includes a full-time summer internship. You will also participate in a Bay Area industry immersion. Northwestern’s San Francisco campus is the headquarters for this week-long experience, allowing you to engage in company visits, industry and alumni networking events, case competitions and an academic short course in the nation’s tech hub.

HBS MS/MBA

Harvard Business School (HBS) and the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) offer a joint degree program which confers an MBA from HBS and a Master of Science in Engineering Sciences from SEAS. The program is completed in four semesters over two years, augmented by summer and January term coursework amounting to three-quarters of a fifth semester. Designed to train future leaders of technology ventures, the MS/MBA program will provide a strong foundation in general management, build design skills, and extend students’ understanding of engineering.

After completing Harvard’s MS/MBA you will possess this duality of expertise that will be your singular advantage as you tackle the many opportunities awaiting you. Harvard’s MS/MBA program delivers an immersive academic and practical education designed specifically for a cohort of approximately 30 students.

The program aims to educate future leaders of technology ventures by providing a strong foundation in general management, building design skills, and deepening students’ understanding of engineering.

The Harvard MS/MBA: Engineering Sciences program has a balanced emphasis on engineering, design, and business fundamentals—all of which are crucial for success when leading technology ventures. To succeed, a technology venture must meet customers’ needs, leverage technology for advantage, and have a viable business model. By extension, leaders of technology ventures must be trained as designers—of products, business models, and organizations. The Harvard MS/MBA: Engineering Sciences program conveys concepts and builds skills across three domains: engineering, design, and management.

Columbia Dual MBA/Executive MS in Engineering and Applied Science

As part of a commitment to prepare the business leaders of tomorrow, Columbia Business School and Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science will offer a new dual-degree program that pairs the foundational skill sets of business with those of engineering. Students in the 20-month program will receive two degrees: a Master of Business Administration and an Executive Master of Science in Engineering and Applied Science. The program will officially launch in September 2023.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of leaders in technology, product managers, entrepreneurs, and other roles associated with technology and business, the Dual MBA/Executive MS in Engineering and Applied Science curriculum will cover core engineering, areas of “tough tech,” and applied science foundations, as well as essential business courses in leadership, strategy, finance, economics, and marketing. Students will take courses with both Columbia Business School and Columbia Engineering faculty, spend a summer pursuing an entrepreneurial venture or interning at a technology company, and complete a capstone project.

The MBAxMS: Engineering & Applied Science core curriculum will focus on the creative application of technology and will include a variety of new and existing courses, including Digital Disruption & Tech Transfer, Business Analytics, Human-Centered Design and Innovation, and more. Students will also choose from an extensive array of electives designed to stimulate innovation, strengthen analytical skills, and bolster critical knowledge for their specific entrepreneurial or enterprise path.

Berkeley MBA/MEng

UC Berkeley’s new MBA/MEng Program will prepare students to become leaders in technological innovation in any industry. Students earn two master’s degrees in the time it takes to complete just one.

Applicants who have a technical undergraduate education can earn in four semesters a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in one of seven departments in the College of Engineering, each with a Master of Engineering program, and an MBA degree from the Haas School of Business, programs that are ranked among the highest in the world.

The academic excellence of UC Berkeley and innovation culture of the San Francisco Bay Area make this concurrent degree program unique. Students will take both business and engineering courses, and they will participate in courses and interdisciplinary projects designed especially for the concurrent program.

UC Berkeley’s new integrated MBA/MEng program, which will enroll its inaugural class in fall 2020, is designed to prepare students to become leaders in technological innovation in an array of different industries. It enables students to earn two master’s degrees in the time it takes to complete just one, and at a lower cost than enrolling in each program separately. Cornell MEng/MBA

The MEng/MBA is a sequential degree program. Students complete their MEng degree in the first year. Then they join the One-Year MBA class for three semesters (Summer, Fall, and Spring) of coursework at Johnson.

The Master of Engineering is a professional degree, designed to give engineers more advanced engineering skills along with teamwork and communication skills that enable them to move into engineering careers at a higher level. The College of Engineering offers master’s degrees in 15 fields, with the flexibility to include coursework in other scientific and technical fields.

The MBA adds knowledge and skill in all the business functions along with a general management perspective. The combination of these degrees prepares engineers to advance through product development and engineering management roles to higher levels of business leadership.

Our alumni from the MEng/MBA Sequential Degree Program develop careers in a wide range of industries including engineering, technology and traditional MBA career paths such as consulting, general management, and finance. Some of our alumni believe their MEng/MBA degree combination has put them on the fast track to advance to higher levels with greater business responsibility in corporate technology companies. Others have put the knowledge and skills they gained through their program into highly successful entrepreneurial ventures.

Wharton/Engineering Dual Degree Program

The intersection of the Wharton MBA Program and a Penn Engineering Graduate Program is of particular interest to those students looking for a career trajectory leveraging the strong combination of business leadership interests and strong technical skills.

Students can complete these dual degree programs in anywhere from 4-6 semesters, depending on the specific program’s structure and also the timing of admissions. Enrollment in one of these dual degree programs benefits students by allowing them to complete both programs in less time and with fewer credits than if the degrees were pursued separately, due to the cross counting of credits between programs and flexibility in course scheduling.
