The Andre Koo Tech MBA program is test optional. A standardized test is a required component of the Full-Time MBA and Luxury & Retail MBA program applications, serving as one way to assess academic readiness. For most applicants, the test is a crucial tool for demonstrating this. However, if you are unable to prepare for or take a standardized test and can demonstrate academic readiness through other means, you may request a waiver. Strong examples of academic readiness—such as an analytical or quantitative undergraduate or graduate degree, relevant professional experience, or certifications—may increase the likelihood of receiving a waiver.

MIT Sloan Fellows (SFMBA)

Submission of a standardized test, such as GMAT (Focus Edition or 10th Edition), GRE, or EA, is optional when applying for the SFMBA program.

UT Austin McCombs

A merit-based test waiver is available by request prior to submitting your application. Waivers/Exceptions are not available for applicants who have already sent scores to UT.
Full-Time MBA students who were admitted without a valid GRE, GMAT or EA score will be required to enroll in the Accelerated Foundations Program, a one-week quantitative prep series taught by McCombs faculty.

Washington Foster

Foster offers a test-optional MBA pathway requiring a summary of academic readiness.

UCLA Anderson

While test scores provide an additional, relevant data point for the admissions committee to consider, a test score is not required. Applicants are given the option to apply for the Full-Time MBA program without submitting a GMAT, GRE, or EA. It is up to the applicant to decide if they want to apply with or without test scores.

UVA Darden

For some candidates a test score may not be needed for our Admissions Committee to assess their preparedness for Darden. Waiver applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and our Admissions Committee will consider a number of factors when evaluating these applications. Michigan Ross

In lieu of a test score, qualified candidates can demonstrate their quantitative background and readiness for the program by submitting a Statement of Quantitative Academic Readiness within their application. Your statement should present a strong case for your quantitative reasoning ability and effectively highlight any relevant experiences that demonstrate these skills.

Dartmouth Tuck

In lieu of a test score, qualified candidates can demonstrate their quantitative background and readiness for the program by submitting a Statement of Quantitative Academic Readiness within their application. Cornell Johnson

Candidates who wish to demonstrate analytical or quantitative readiness outside of taking a GMAT or GRE exam may submit a test waiver request with their application for admission.

WashU Olin is test-optional and evaluates academic and professional readiness.

Emory offers GMAT waivers for experienced professionals with strong academic backgrounds.

UNC Kenan-Flagler

GMAT/GRE waivers are available for new applicants to the UNC Kenan-Flagler Full-Time MBA Program. You can access the GMAT/GRE waiver request form from within your application, and we encourage you to submit your waiver request early to allow for processing time.

USC Marshall

USC Marshall considers waiver requests from candidates with STEM or business backgrounds.

CMU Tepper

Standardized tests like the GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment (EA) can be helpful indicators of academic preparedness. However, we also recognize that there are multiple ways to demonstrate academic readiness. For this reason, we offer a test waiver option.
Here is some guidance on our test waiver option:

• Waivers will be granted on a case-by-case basis.
• Each request is evaluated with a focus on academic readiness for Tepper.
• Receiving a test waiver does not indicate admission to the program.
• Admissions decisions are based on a holistic review of the application.
• If granted a waiver, you may still be asked to complete additional academic preparation before the program begins to support your success.
• Applying with a test waiver does not impact your eligibility for scholarships.

Once your application is submitted, the waiver request will be reviewed, and a waiver decision will be communicated via email within 10 business days of the application deadline. To request a test waiver, please upload a document outlining your academic readiness for Tepper.

Indiana Kelley

The curriculum for the Kelley Full-Time +Flex MBA Program is academically rigorous. We typically require the GMAT or GRE as one aspect of demonstrated quantitative and analytical capability. However, candidates may apply with a waiver of this requirement and submit other evidence of their academic potential. In evaluating candidates without test scores, we focus on strong academic achievement in prior undergraduate and graduate degree programs, with particular attention to quantitative and analytical coursework. Holding a CPA, CFA, or other quantitatively based certification (or international equivalents) can also serve to demonstrate academic potential; these should be included on your resume. While applying without test scores does not necessarily have a negative impact on an application, strong scores can help differentiate a candidate in a competitive applicant pool. Some employers in industries such as management consulting and investment banking have asked for standardized test scores as part of the recruiting process. We do not require a separate test waiver application; you may simply indicate this within the phase 1 application.

Georgetown McDonough

Our optional Pre-assessment Process allows candidates to share key information upfront and receive feedback from our Admissions Team before completing the full application. This approach helps candidates better understand their next steps, including whether to move forward with an application and whether a standardized test waiver may be appropriate based on their academic background and professional experience. If applying for test waiver, an optional short essay answering, “Please explain why you believe you are prepared to succeed in the quantitative coursework of Georgetown’s MBA curriculum without submitting a standardized test score. In your response, provide evidence of your quantitative readiness, and describe how your resilience, determination, and commitment to learning will contribute to your success in Georgetown McDonough’s academically rigorous environment.
